We have been in our house since December 2011. Since then we have gone through several phases of projects and decor changes – working a bit each month to find just the right feel for our house. When we started I gave Carver a bit more of a say and so basically everything was brown or beige. I also had to try and digest all of the beautiful images in magazines and on Pinterest to find what we both liked and what was feasible. The moral here is that I have lots of items strewn about that didn’t make the cut and that I have saved to repurpose. Something we have loads of? Curtains. We have so many large windows that I have more extra panels than I know what to do with.
One of my Pinterest days I stumbled across DIY dog bed covers which I thought were adorable – classic, easy and neutral. Even better?? The fabric they used was very similar to some extra curtains I had laying around. When my parents were in town a few weeks ago I knew I would add this project to our to do list. Four hands and one afternoon and the pups got some refreshed dog beds.
First we took the measured out the curtains based on the desired dog bed size.
Then we cut the curtains based on our measures and pinned them right-side together for sewing. (Note Cody and Sophie supervising Nana’s cutting.)
Next we sewed three of the sides with a 5/8-inch seam.
Then we put in the zipper, also with a 5/8-inch seam.
And finally we filled them and had the pups test the beds out. It seems like they passed the test!
