Four years ago today my life changed. October 30 is the day I met Carver. We are both in a very different place than we were then. We’ve been up and down but mostly up. Four years ago I could barely roast a chicken. I was unsure as to whether or not I could finish my degree, as were many around me. While today there are still struggles to work through, milestones like this help give me perspective. They reinvigorate me and kickstart my motivation and creativity.
Other little things help kickstart action on my part – like having people over, or a new challenge, or holidays and as I’ve mentioned previously, beginnings. This evening I hosted book club. We were discussing Gone Girl. Have you read it? I enjoyed it and it kept me guessing. Towards the end the store got a bit extreme, but I felt the rest of the book made up for it. It was not, however, as good as The Fault in Our Stars. I offered some little snacks – pizza, crudite, white bean dip, cheese, crackers – and we chatted away all the while missing our two sick members.
Knowing these ladies would be at the house this evening inspired me to tackle two projects this morning before work. I cleared off my desk and created an organized and inviting work space. Fresh flowers, basic supplies within reach and staring me down, cute photos and an inspiration board above the desk. I am so looking forward to sitting down at my desk in the morning, enjoying my cup of Pumpkin Spice coffee and writing to you. I also put together a little system for all of my product. Hangers for all of my bags, separate sections for shipping boxes, bubble wrap, ribbon and decorative boxes, and tape guns. My mind feels clearer than this time yesterday.
I almost feel like these guys. Or like Cody relaxing in the beautiful autumn sunshine.
